The Creation Myth of Arcania

The complete story of how the world came to be-from the primordial Titans to the Eclipse Arc.

"In the beginning, there was nothing. And then nothing grew hungry."

  • First line of the Arcanian Genesis

The story of Arcania's creation is not a tale of benevolent gods shaping a perfect world. It is a story of cosmic violence, impossible love, divine murder, and a war that never ends. Understanding this story is essential to understanding everything that happens in Arcania today.

Note

This is the canonical creation myth as understood by scholars, priests, and sages. Some details are debated. Some are forgotten. But the broad strokes are accepted by all races and religions in Arcania.

The Six Arcs

The creation of Arcania spans six distinct arcs, each building upon the last:

I. The Genesis Arc

Before time, before space, before anything-there were the Titans. The Void Titan and the Dark Titan clashed in The Anguish, destroying each other and birthing the universe. From their remains emerged Marael, the first god.

II. The Eternal Arc

Marael discovered Anias slumbering in the void. Her unconscious dreams had created the First World. When he woke her, they fell in love. Together they built Eterna Citadel, had children-Erion and Alassa-and created Arcania.

III. The Golden Arc

The gods descended to walk among mortals. Erion fell in love with Nimue, a blacksmith's daughter. Alassa was betrayed by Cassian, a mortal general, and in her fury committed terrible acts. She was banished-and her heart hardened forever.

IV. The Duskfall Arc

Nimue, manipulated by the bitter oracle Mildor, murdered Anias with the sacred Arcblade. The goddess gave her son Erion the Spark of Light with her dying breath. The Golden Age ended in blood.

V. The Abyssal Arc

Marael's grief twisted into cold fury. He transformed Alassa into the Dread Emissary and gave her the Anguish Stone-containing the primordial wrath of the Titans. War was declared on all creation.

VI. The Eclipse Arc

The current era. Two hundred years of war. Erion leads the resistance from Valoryn. Four races unite. Five sacred orders fight. And mortals must become heroes because no one else can.

Why This Matters

Every aspect of Arcania connects to this story:

  • Classes draw power from different aspects of creation (divine light, primal wilderness, Titan energy)
  • Races emerged from different cosmic sources (Anias's light, Titan remains, neutral creation)
  • The Enemy players fight is Marael and his daughter Alassa
  • Magic itself (the Anguish) is the death-scream of the Titans

Understanding the creation myth helps players understand why the world works the way it does-and what they're truly fighting for.

Warning

The story you're about to read is not a happy one. Gods die. Love becomes murder. The creator turns destroyer. But within this darkness, hope persists-carried by mortals who refuse to surrender.

"We are born from violence. We live in chaos. We fight against our own creators. And still we hope. Still we build. Still we love. That is what it means to be Arcanian."
