PvP System
The Outlaw system, PvP rules, and player-versus-player combat mechanics.
"In the lawless lands, every shadow could be friend or foe. Trust is a luxury few can afford."
Erion, Last of the Gods
Arcania features an Outlaw system for PvP combat. In PvP-enabled zones, attacking other players is always possible - but it comes with consequences.
The Outlaw System
Core Concept
In PvP zones, any player can attack any other player. However, initiating an attack marks you as an Outlaw, bringing significant penalties.

Default state for all players.
| Aspect | Status |
|---|---|
| Name color | White |
| Can attack | Yes (becomes Outlaw) |
| Can be attacked | By Outlaws freely, by Innocents (they become Outlaw) |
| Death penalty | Normal (3-5 item drops) |
| Guard protection | Protected in Safe Zones |
| Bounty | None |
Outlaw (Red Name)
Gained by attacking an Innocent player first.
| Aspect | Status |
|---|---|
| Name color | Red |
| Can attack | Yes (no additional penalty) |
| Can be attacked | By anyone freely |
| Death penalty | Increased (5-8 item drops) |

Warning
Think Before You Strike: Becoming an Outlaw has serious consequences. Guards will kill you in Safe Zones, and you drop more items on death.
Self-Defense Rules
Defending yourself does not make you an Outlaw:
| Scenario | Result |
|---|---|
| Outlaw attacks you first | You can fight back, stay Innocent |
| Innocent attacks you first | You can fight back, they become Outlaw |
| You attack an Outlaw | No penalty (killing Outlaws is encouraged) |
| You attack an Innocent | You become Outlaw |
Note
Bounty Hunting: Killing Outlaws rewards you with bounty gold and does not give you Outlaw status. It's encouraged behavior!
Outlaw Consequences
Guards
In Safe Zones, NPCs guards will:
- Detect Outlaws immediately
- Attack on sight
- Kill quickly (guards are very powerful)
- Prevent access to services

Increased Drop Rate
| Player State | Items Dropped on Death |
|---|---|
| Innocent | 3-5 random bag items |
| Outlaw | 5-8 random bag items |
| Serial Outlaw | 6-10 random bag items |
Bounty System
When you become an Outlaw:
- A bounty is placed on your head
- Bounty amount based on your crimes
- Anyone who kills you claims the bounty
- Bounty paid from system (not your gold)
| Crime | Bounty Added |
|---|---|
| First innocent killed | 1,000g base |
| Each additional kill | +500g |
| High-level victim | +200g per level difference |
| Killing same player again | +1,000g (anti-grief) |
Clearing Outlaw Status
Outlaw status decays over time or through actions:
Time Decay
| Outlaw Level | Time to Clear |
|---|---|
| Low (1-2 kills) | 15 minutes |
| Medium (3-5 kills) | 30 minutes |
| High (6-10 kills) | 1 hour |
| Serial (11+ kills) | 2 hours |
Active Clearing
| Method | Time Reduction |
|---|---|
| Kill monsters | -1 minute per monster |
| Kill elite monsters | -5 minutes per elite |
| Complete quests | -10 minutes per quest |
| Stay in PvE zones | Normal decay |
| Stay logged out | 50% decay rate |
Tip
Fast Clear: If you accidentally became Outlaw, grinding monsters in PvE zones is the fastest way to clear your status.
