Ranger - Children of the First World
Guardians of the wild who draw power from the primal world that existed before the gods.
Ranger - Children of the First World
Ranged DPS / Utility
Before Marael brought order. Before Anias brought divine life. Before the gods walked the earth-there was the First World. A wild, untamed realm born from Anias's unconscious dreams during her eternal slumber. Rangers are those who learned to tap into this primal power, becoming one with the wilderness that predates divinity itself.
The Ranger Tradition
"The trees remember when there were no gods. The rivers recall when the only light was starlight. I do not command the wild-I listen. And the wild whispers secrets older than divinity itself."
- Grove Warden Sylana, First Listener of Lythora
Origin of the First Listeners
Before Anias awakened, she dreamed. For ages beyond counting, while she slumbered in the void after the Titans' destruction, her unconscious mind radiated creative energy. This energy took form: forests grew, rivers flowed, creatures emerged-all born from the peaceful dreams of a sleeping goddess.
This was the First World-creation without intention, life without divine plan. And within it, the Lilin emerged as Anias's dream-daughters, the first beings to exist.
When Anias finally awakened and began consciously shaping reality, the First World didn't disappear. It simply... receded. It became the wild places, the ancient forests, the untamed corners where primal energy still pulses stronger than divine order.
The first Rangers were those who learned to hear the Earthsong-the voice of the First World, still echoing through creation. They didn't discover a new power. They remembered an old one-older than the gods themselves.
Philosophy of the Wild
Rangers do not worship the First World or pray to it. They commune with it. Their relationship with primal power is fundamentally different from divine classes: they listen rather than petition, harmonize rather than command.
| Attribute | Value | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Listen Before Speaking | Core Principle | The First World has wisdom older than gods; learn before acting |
| Take Only What Is Offered | Core Principle | The wild shares its power freely with those who respect it |
| Protect the Ancient Places | Core Principle | Where the First World still thrives must be defended |
| Remember the Dreaming | Core Principle | Honor the sleeping goddess whose dreams gave the wild life |
The First World and the Lilin
Rangers draw power from the First World-Anias's unconscious creation from before she awakened. The Lilin were born from this same dreaming. This makes Rangers and Lilin natural allies; they connect to the same ancient source.
Many of the greatest Rangers have been Lilin, whose dream-born nature gives them intuitive understanding of the First World. But any race can learn to hear the Earthsong-it simply requires patience, humility, and the willingness to listen.
Lore Connections
| Attribute | Value | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Power Source | The First World | Anias's unconscious dreams, still echoing through creation |
| Divine Connection | Anias (Pre-Awakening) | Connects to the goddess before she knew she was creating |
| Sacred Site | Lythora (First Forest) | Where the First World is strongest and the Earthsong clearest |
| Enemy | The Dominion | Corruption spreads where the First World once thrived |
Regional Ties:
- Lythora - The First Forest, where Rangers train alongside the Lilin
- Wild Places - Every ancient forest, primordial grove, and untamed wilderness
- The Mother Trees - Sacred trees that grew from Anias's earliest dreams
Racial Affinities:
Lilin - Deepest natural connection; they were born from the same dreams Rangers tap into
Humans - Adaptable; can learn to hear the Earthsong through dedicated practice
Darkan - Some Earth-bonded Darkan find resonance with the First World's primal energy
Luminar - Struggle most; their conscious divine light sometimes drowns out the unconscious Earthsong
Class Relations
| Class | Relationship | How Rangers View Them |
|---|---|---|
| Paladin | Natural Complement | They carry Erion's conscious light; we tap into his grandmother's unconscious dreams. Different branches of the same divine tree, united against the same darkness. |
| Cleric | Kindred Spirits | They connect to Anias's memory; we connect to her dreams. Both honor the goddess, but through different aspects. We understand each other in ways others cannot. |
| Warrior | Practical Alliance | They reject cosmic power entirely; we embrace the oldest cosmic power. Different philosophies, but we both value skill and discipline. Their arrows fly true through practice, not prayer-we respect that. |
| Mage | Cautious Tension | The Anguish and the First World are... incompatible. Their power disrupts ours; our power resists theirs. We work together when we must, but we keep our distance. |
Notable Figures
Grove Warden Sylana
First Listener of Lythora and founder of Ranger training in the First Forest. A Lilin who has communed with the Earthsong for longer than most civilizations have existed. She teaches that the First World is not a tool to be used, but a family member to be honored.
The First Listeners
The legendary Rangers who first learned to hear the Earthsong. Unlike other orders, the First Listeners weren't founded by a single figure-they emerged naturally, in different places and times, as mortals learned to listen to the wild. The title "First Listener" is now given to master Rangers who can hear the deepest whispers of the First World.
Warden-Commander Thorne
Current leader of Ranger forces in the Grand Alliance. A human who spent twenty years in Lythora learning from the Lilin before returning to lead his people's scouts and skirmishers. He bridges the gap between the practical military needs of the war and the spiritual traditions of Ranger training.
The Dreamwalkers
A specialized order of Luminar Rangers who overcame their race's natural difficulty with the First World. By harmonizing their conscious divine light with the unconscious Earthsong, they became something new-bridges between Anias's waking and sleeping creations. They are rare, but their insights have deepened understanding of both divine and primal power.

Playstyle
Rangers are mobile skirmishers who control the battlefield from a distance. They excel at kiting (staying mobile while dealing damage) and utility (traps, slows, vision).
Combat Flow
Position at Range → Apply Traps → Build Focus with Aimed Shots → Control Distance → Devastate with Arrow Rain
Rangers never want enemies close. Their entire kit revolves around creating and maintaining distance.
